I with the headlight was upright like my car . But overall this is epic !

It's hard to get the proportions from that angle, but if it's got the same general shape/proportions to this guys rendering or the original 240Z, I would be all over it.

I enjoy concave wheels.

I believe this rendering is based off that rendering so they should be pretty close. I just liked this ones color better.

I want to know what wheels they are or what comes close to matching them for my Z432 on Forza. they go well with the car.

Well then, let's all scream "MAKE THIS" in unison until Nissan hears our pleas.

They really should it would fit between the IDx and the GTR, and prefer this styling to the current Z. the only issue i see is that nose doesn't look it would meet the pedestrian safety standards.

Yeah, but if they made it hollow or something so it would crumple on impact/of plastic, it could probably find a way around the more stupid regulations.

It has some fish cues here and there.

Please don't. No offense to this very pretty homage, but Retro is a terrible way forward. I'm digging the idea of the idx concept though.
Seriously, Retro designs are a terrible way to create a car for three reasons:
1.The past is wonderful, but its in the past. If you like the old model, buy one.
2. Retro designs have no place to go past the first one, so designers have to either fiddle with it slightly or dump it all together.
3. Retro sells....once. Retro models sell REALLY well for the first 2 years, then tank when everone who likes the throwback have their fill, then without a redesign (which many don't get because of #2) they die.

It's unfortunate that all the new safety regulations take away some of the best looking concepts. Let me buy an unsafe car and then just charge like a larger fee to have it registered.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 13:07 |

I think it's just unfortunate we have regulations based around the lowest common denominator/rare occurrences.

Maybe offer it as a body shell then to put on top of the current Z. IT would be an expensive option but I'm sure the people who would want it would buy it.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 13:10 |

I think it would be cheaper and easier to restomod a 240
![]() 02/12/2014 at 13:12 |

It is. also alot of the new driver aids like blind spot monitoring and lane departure warnings are only helping people to become worse drivers by having to pay less attention while driving. The majority of drivers will only get worse which will lead to more regulations.

Probably. I'm thinking of getting one for my next project. will be my first break away from Subaru who I'm starting to get bored with.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 13:14 |

That's why I'm hoping for self driving cars. Then we can do away with the regulations and let bad drivers rely on computers and let the few of us that actually want to drive assume risk/responsibility.

best of luck, keep us posted. I love a well restored 240/280

Well it's going to be some time before I start it. I have another project to finish and then some mods to do to my BRZ. I just start my planning way in advance for my projects.

I wouldn't say retro tanks after 2 years.

take a look at the HRR, FJ cruiser, PT cruiser, Bettle (before current redesign), SSR, or any other throwback.

apples to oranges. This is a sports car, so it should be compared to a sports car throwbacks. Camaro, Mustang.... The only terrible one I can think of is the thunderbird, which lets admit was a debacle. I think if it is more than a pretty face and actually has the performance/fun aspect covered, it would do great. Also, I dont think the design really looks dated.

They tried something awesome back in 1999.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 16:45 |

The front of that look badass.
What I'd like to see is modern car companies building their greatest cars again, but selling them as kits to get around modern regulations.
That would be cool.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 16:51 |

It would be awesome but probably not financially viable.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 17:09 |

Yeah, Caterham can do it as it's relatively cheap to make tube frame chassis'.
The big costs would be tooling up for all of the casting and stampings and whatnot.
Still, I reckon you could make it financially viable by also providing a comprehensive spares catalogue. There's money to be made selling brand new whole bodyshells for rust-prone valuable classics, or brand new engine blocks to replace overbored old examples.
I doubt you could make them cheaply, especially with current manufacturing technology.
Come the advent of cheap 3D printing with metal and circumstances could be different.

The current-gen Camaro is not much of a retro design as much as it is a great performance bargain with decent looks (like the Mustang). A much better example would be the Dodge Challenger, which is so obviously a throwback:

Looks like the trend has been up, up, up. Not a single down-tick for any model year. Retro definitely sells. Hard to sell your new-style version of a car when it [in my opinion] looks worse than the retro one, which is precisely why retro sells in the first place.
